Dr. Yap took over the reins of his father's transportation company in 1977 and transformed it from a fledgling company at risk of losing their whole business to the only local logistics conglomerate that spans the Asia Pacific, with plans for further expansion towards the west.

Helmed by Dr. Robert Yap who is also the President of the Singapore National Employers Federation, YCH Group is the only company who is willing to open its facilities for industry trainees to learn from their 24/7 operations and gain a hands-on experience with their technologies. He founded SCALA in 2016 because of his strong belief in “teaching a man to fish” and his lifelong motivation to raise the bar for the industry.

Being a B2G organization, SCALA works closely with governments of countries, and also with major companies around Singapore and around the world, offering them the opportunity to upskill their nationals in the industry. Noting that Singapore has rose up the ranks to top the Logistics Performance Index (LPI#1), foreign governments are interested to learn how they too can emulate that. By offering our Executive Programs and our Jump-On-Board (JOB) Attachments, we are able to provide a very unique experience in achieving that. BUSINESS TO BUSINESS

On the B2B front, SCALA works with companies to help them hire talent from other industries and trains them to perform in logistics and supply chain roles. To mitigate the risk of hiring someone from outside the industry, Workforce Singapore (WSG) offers salary support for 3 to 6 months to the companies and this fund can be used to digitalise operations or up-skill talent.
